Help Me Protect Moms and Cubs!

Right now, polar bear moms and their newborn cubs are snuggled together in snow dens across the Arctic. However, they are extremely vulnerable while they’re denning, with survival rates of just 50 percent or less for many cubs.   Recent research shows that the oil industry’s current den-detection tool (FLIR) misses more than half of known dens. This puts moms and cubs at grave risk of being disturbed. 

Polar Bears International, an organization committed to the long-term survival of polar bears, is working on developing a promising new tool for finding, hence protecting, dens hidden under the snow.
